Indonesia Handbook 2000 is the 30th official handbook in the series prepared
and revised by the Directorate of Foreign Information Services of the
Directorate General for General Information, Department of Information.
In accordance with the dismissal of Department of Information from the
National Unity Cabinet, based on Presidential Decision number 153 of the
year 1999, the Department of Information has been replaced with the
National Communication and Information Board.
This book is a compilation of available
information and data culled from government departments, agencies and legislative
bodies as well as other reliable resources.
The main objective of publishing
this book is to offer general information on the country's characteristics
ranging from its geographic features, flora, fauna, people, history and
government. This book presents to the readers a description on the performance
of Development Reform Cabinet (1998-1999) and the result of the 1999 General
Election.
The editors sincerely hope that
this book can help the readers not only in getting better acquainted with
the country's characteristics, but also in keeping track on the progress
of Indonesia. |
